December in Rio

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

As a Northern American I am accustomed to seeing warm weather on the opposite side of the calendar…Although my accumulated time here is more than four years, Christmas in Summer is still a weird feeling. If it weren’t for all of the propaganda it would not seem like the holidays to me. At times it would be nice to feel the cold weather but you won’t hear me complaining about 100 degree days in December.

Holidays tend to thin out the attendance at the academy but shows who has dedication. I enjoy training during the holidays.

Rudy ‘Rudini’ Fischman

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Congratulations to long time friend Rudy Fischman in earning his Jiu-Jitsu black belt under professor Wander Braga. Rudy has dedicated much time in both training and teaching the art in Southern California. Aside from Jiu-Jitsu Rudini is an expert editor/director in Television and a friend who has always been there to count on since we first met. Glad to see you rewarded for the dedication in your life.

My apologies for the lack of photos on the blog in these recent entries. There is a technical problem that I have been unable to overcome preventing me from uploading media. It should be resolved in the near future.

Fury FC 7

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Friday’s Fury FC 7 was proof that the show is Brazil’s number one promotion. Production quality and timing where great throughout the event, the fights where all good and the venue had plenty of room to pack in the fans. Cutting the video and producing what was televised Augusto Fernandes of Tera Producoes did good work on the screens for both the audience in attendance and the viewers at home. Having the opportunity to comment during the fights was a great time and I am glad to have done it . Jiu-Jitsu Progear’s Gilberto Faria and Koral Kimonos owner Victor Costa really put there time in to this event and it showed…looking forward to the next edition this Spring (North American).

For Edu, it was a tough break loosing in the finals but his opponent Henrique Mello played the right game. No doubt Edu’s strong mindedness and dedication will have him back in the academy this monday.
